THE CALL TO INTIMACYNOVEMBER 30 2023, WRITTEN BY MARILYN ADAMS

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.PSALM 63:1

I didn’t know what it meant to be still, until at the age of 30, I fell head first into a six-foot ravine. That stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t work for six and a half years. Much of that time I was bedridden.It was in the crucible of that trial that the Lord wooed me into intimate communion. He spoke tenderly to my heart. He drew me close to him so that he could minister to the deep hurts. He set me free from the emotional pain that held me captive to the enemy of my soul. I had accepted him as my Savior and Lord when I was 11. I just had never learned to sit still in his presence. No one had taught me to be a Mary. I marvel at her expression of love.John 12:3 says, “Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.” When we spend time with the Lord, that fragrance of sweet communion remains. Let nothing rival your quiet time with the Lord. He deserves the glory that he created us for, because he alone is worthy. Father, how amazing is your love. You loved us and chose us to be yours for eternity. There we will have unbroken fellowship. We will see you face to face and not be ashamed. We will worship without distraction. Thank you for the gift of intimate communion. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
