James 1:14 says that we are tempted, drawn away by our own desires, and enticed. Here’s another aspect of a hard heart to consider. Hebrews 3:13 says, “…lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
We are to live by the Holy Spirit’s guidance. However, when we harbor secret sinful thoughts in our hearts, we become insensitive to His promptings. Our hidden sinful desires become the trap’s door. We are lured into the trap, and then the door shuts fast behind us ~ ensnared through our own lusts.
Ephesians 4:22 says, “That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” Remember every temptation is a deception. It looks good but it is a deadly trap.
Renewing our mind is a daily discipline that empowers us to fulfill verse 24. It says, “And that you put on the new man which was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Romans 13:14 says, “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
