Soil Cultivation~Part Two

Hosea 10:12 says, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” What causes the soil of our hearts to become fallow? Verse 13 says, “…You have eaten the fruit of lies, because you trusted in your own way….”

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” We trusted the Lord for salvation. With that same trust, we follow Him moment by moment.

Fallow ground has clods of hard compacted dirt. Joel 1:17 says, “The seed shrivels under the clods…” Haggai 2:19 says, “Is the seed still in the barn?…” Mark 4:16 was about the seed sown on stony ground. Verse 17 says, “…they have no root in themselves…”
