Are you prospering in whatever you do? Prospering is God’s promise to meditators. Jeremiah linked trust with meditating. Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

2 Kings 19:30 was written about Israel, but we can apply it personally. It says, “…shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.” Years ago our church had a slogan: the deeper the root the sweeter the fruit.

Meditating in His word is God’s way to take our roots deeper. Mark 4 is the parable of the sower. Verse 17 described the seeds that fell on the stony ground. It says, “And they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.”
