Worry

Last night I was telling the Lord something I was concerned about.  Immediately this thought came from Him.  Our flesh worries, but our spirit is confident in You.

When we worry it is our flesh which profits nothing.  When we START to worry, we must quickly acknowledge that worry as sin.  We switch our thoughts by saying, “Your will Lord, not mine.”  That immediately changes our fleshly focus on our circumstances, and moves us over to our spirit who communes with the Lord.  With our spirit we can  confidently affirm who the Lord is in our present situation.  It is truth that sets us free.  Our circumstances are constantly changing, but He remains who He is at all times.

  1. The words that really resonated with me as I read this were in essence: ‘worry only comes from our flesh–which can profit NOTHING’. and ‘it is only through our spirit that we commune with God’. So when tempted to worry, we need to turn and allow the Spirit to fill our minds. Reminded me of the old song….”Turn your eyes (thoughts) upon Jesus”. Let me give personal witness to the fact that this does really work! When I find myself entertaining unwanted thoughts or discouragement, then with His strength I begin to praise and it truly does chase away the ugly thoughts. May have to do it over again but it works every time. Reminds me of the verse in Phil. 4:8 “whatever things are true, honest and just pure lovely–or any praise–think on these things”. Romans 8:4…”Righteousness is fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” “We CAN do all (His will) things THROUGH Christ who strengthens us.”
