Prayer is the fruit of a heart filled with the wonder and awe of Who the Lord is. The children of Israel had just passed through the Red Sea on dry ground. In awe they watched as the Red Sea closed in over the entire Egyptian army.
Exodus 15 was a praise song to the Lord. Verse 1 says, “…I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!” Verse 11 says, “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
Psalm 145:1 says, “I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever.” Verse 3 says, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.”
We can use His word to extol Him. For example, “Lord, I am so grateful that You are my Redeemer and my Sustainer. There is no one like You. There is no one Your equal.” Psalm 19:14, 55:22, Isaiah 40:25.
