Measuring Knowledge~Part One

2 Peter 1:3 says, “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him…” In verse 5 Peter instructed his reader to add to their faith.

One of the inner graces to add is knowledge.  Then verse 8 says that if these inner graces, “…are yours and abound in you, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What is your level of knowledge of the Lord? Do you have areas of spiritual barrenness? Are you lacking in self-control, or the power to overcome the work of the enemy against you?

Verse 9-10 says, “For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.”

Peter was reminding us that harboring hidden sin creates blindspots ~ areas we do not acknowledge are there. 1 John 1:9 says to confess our sins.
