Recharging Spiritually~Part One

Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Paul understood weariness. 2 Corinthians 11:23-33 was a recap of his ministry. Verse 27 says, “In weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often…”

In Philippians 4:11 he said, “…I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.” Paul did not burn out because he knew how to spiritually recharge. Dialoguing with discontent can take us into a cascade of negative spiraling down into despair.

Elijah was running from the threatening words of Jezebel to take his life. After running for a day he sat down. 1 Kings 19:4 says that he asked the Lord to take his life. Though Scripture does not record a dialogue, verse 10 says, “…I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

Read verses 11-12. It was not in God’s display of power, but in His still small voice that gained entrance to Elijah’s troubled heart. So it is with us. We must sit still with an inclined ear.
