Our Speech: Heart Detector Part Two

I love Malachi 3:16. It says, “Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.”

Let us live in the acute awareness that the Lord listens to every conversation we are engaged in. In Luke 24:14-15 there were two men walking on the road to Emmaus. It says, “And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.”

God’s word gives us speech thermometers to observe to do. Colossians 4:6 says, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Psalm 15:2 says, “He who…speaks the truth in his heart.” Life-giving words nourish.
