Fear Blocks Discernment~Part One

A group of us ladies had gone out to eat. It was raining when we were ready to leave. I said that I would get my car and meet them out front. I jumped into my car and shut the door. Someone rose up from the backseat and spoke to me. I froze in fear. Even though it was someone I knew, it really impacted me.

Every time after that I would look in the backset before I got in. One day I drove away from my home, and had this thought that I forgot to check before I got into my car. I dialogued with the thought until fear so gripped me that I failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a car. I was cited for inattentiveness.

When we are walking in the Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:10 says that the Holy Spirit will give us a gift of discerning spirits. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Don’t let fear get a grip.
