Singleness Of Heart ~ Part Two

Hebrews 12:1 says that our journey of progressive sanctification is a race. Distractions will disrupt our endurance. They are classified as, “…every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us…”

Isaiah 50:7 says, “For the Lord God will help Me; therefore I will not be disgraced; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.” Setting our face like a flint is a pattern of Jesus that we can follow.

Hebrews 12:2 says that we do that by, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” With singleness of heart Jesus remained on the cross to bring many into His Kingdom.

Here is our instruction for endurance. Luke 9:23 says, “…If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” We embrace our trial-cross by walking in the Spirit who resists our flesh.
