All temptations ~ set traps.  All temptations ~ invitations to sin by disobeying God’s way. James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

John 14:21 gives us the qualifications for our love. It says, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” What purifies our hearts? 

Psalm 19:7-8 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

As we face an unexpected temptation, our defense is His word hidden in our hearts. Psalm 12:6 says, “The words of the Lord are pure…”
