Ephesians 6:16 says to take up our shield of faith. I like to picture my shield as the size of a door. It is covered with the pitch of truth. When the fiery dart comes, it is God’s word that instantly quenches it.
All fiery darts are lies. What do we do when our mind is bombarded? I remember in the 70’s when I would put my hands on my head and say “Stop it!” because my mind was going a mile a minute with thoughts.
In 1993 I learned that not every thought is of my origin and it changed my life. 2 Corinthians 4:2 became my go to verse. It says, “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”
Renounce means to disown. Don’t dialogue with it. When we are deceived we don’t know we are. Our remedy is to hide God’s word of truth in our hearts ~ exposing the lies.
