Follow The Leader

John 16:13-15 says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”

When we decide to take matters into our own hands, the Holy Spirit will be right there to nudge us. If we heed His nudging, He will help us course-correct. If we ignore Him, He may bring others to remind us that the way of the transgressor is hard.

Proverbs 10:17 Amplified says, “He who heeds instruction and correction is (not only himself) in the way of life (but also) is a way of life for others. And he who neglects or refuses reproof (not only himself) goes astray (but also) causes to err and is a path of ruin for others.”

Strong warning. Our example of how we conduct our lives influences others, for good or for evil. We either humbly exemplify the Lord, or we trumpet our pride.

The Lord is our Shepherd. Psalm 23:2-3 says, “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” Paths of righteousness will lead us into circumstances that will help our thoughts, purpose, and actions to conform to His will.

We will personally experience His leading as we daily read His word. We will become more familiar with His ways. I love John 10. There are so many rich truths to anchor my soul. It is the contrasting picture of our Shepherd versus a hireling. Verse 3 says, “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”
Verse 27 says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Isaiah 43:1 says, “…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”

We are His and He is ours for eternity! John 10:28 says, “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. Secured forever in His love.
